KGF: Chapter 1 is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale Films, the film stars Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Anant Nag, Malavika Avinash, Prakash Raj, and Achyuth Kumar. The film's story is set in the 1970s and follows Rocky, a young man who rises through the ranks of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) to become its kingpin.
The film begins with Rocky arriving in Bombay as a ten-year-old boy. He is determined to make a name for himself and fulfill his mother's dying wish that he become a powerful man. Rocky quickly rises through the ranks of the underworld and becomes a feared mercenary. He is then hired by Andrews, the head of the gold mafia in Bombay, to assassinate Garuda, the son of the founder of KGF.
Rocky successfully completes his mission and travels to KGF to take over the mines. He faces opposition from the mine's current owner, Guru Pandian, and his son, Virat. However, Rocky proves to be too powerful for them and eventually takes control of KGF.
The film ends with Rocky declaring himself the king of KGF. He vows to use his power to improve the lives of the mine workers and make KGF a better place.
KGF: Chapter 1 was a critical and commercial success. It was the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time at the time of its release. The film's sequel, KGF: Chapter 2, was released in 2022 and was also a commercial success.
